श्री अनुप कुमार यांच्या दोन कवितासंग्रहांचा लोकार्पण व प्रकाशन सोहळा मुंबई येथे आयोजित करण्यात आला.

या कार्यक्रमात त्यांच्या हिंदी कवितासंग्रहाचे —

‘इसलिए बची हुई है पृथ्वी अब तक’

याचे लोकार्पण

तसेच मराठी कवितासंग्रहाचे —‘जग नावाचं छोटंसं गाव’याचे प्रकाशन करण्यात आले.

या विशेष साहित्यिक सोहळ्यात अनुप कुमार यांच्या हिंदी आणि मराठी अशा दोन्ही भाषांतील काव्यलेखनाचा परिचय वाचकांसमोर आला. दोन वेगवेगळ्या भाषांमधून व्यक्त होणाऱ्या त्यांच्या संवेदना, सामाजिक जाणिवा आणि जीवनानुभवांचा वेध घेणारे हे दोन्ही कवितासंग्रह या कार्यक्रमाच्या निमित्ताने प्रकाशित झाले.

कविता कधी 'शून्य'मध्ये लिहिली जात नाही. कविता आपल्या सभोवतीच्या समाजासोबत संवाद असते. कोणतेही साहित्यिक माध्यम असो- कविता, कथा, कादंबरी, नाटक किंवा निबंध, त्याचे लेखन एका ठोस सामाजिक सांस्कृतिक परिवेशामध्येच होते. मराठी भावभूमी आणि इथल्या माणसांवर लिहिलेल्या हिंदी कवितांचे भाषांतर करून त्यांचा समावेश या संग्रहामध्ये करण्यात आलेला आहे. या कवितांचे भाषांतर डॉ. शिवदत्त वालावलकर यांनी केलेले आहे. डॉ. वालावलकर हे एसएनडीटी महिला विद्यापीठ पुणे परिसरात हिंदीचे प्राध्यापक म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत. डॉ. वालावलकर यांनी इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विद्यापीठ, दिल्ली येथून हिंदी साहित्यामध्ये पीएचडी व पोस्ट डॉक्टरेट पूर्ण केलेले आहे. या हिंदी कवितांचे मर्म समजून त्यांना सहज मराठीमध्ये भाषांतरीत करण्याचे अत्यंत आव्हानात्मक काम त्यांनी कमी कालावधीत पूर्ण केलेले आहे. त्यांचे ह्रदयापासून आभार ! या कवितासंग्रहाला साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त मराठी कवी श्री. श्रीकांत देशमुख यांच्याकडून संपादन सहयोग प्राप्त झालेला आहे. शब्दालय प्रकाशनच्या प्रमुख मराठीतील ज्येष्ठ कवयित्री श्रीमती सुमती लांडे यांनी मौल्यवान मार्गदर्शन केलेले आहे. त्यांच्यामुळे या कवितांचे परिमार्जन करून पाठकासाठी उपलब्ध करणे शक्य झाले आहे.

Anup Kumar’s ‘Jag Navach Chotasa Gaav’ and ‘Isliye Bachi Hui Hai Prithvi Ab Tak’ Launched in Mumbai

A special book launch and literary release ceremony for two poetry collections by Anup Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Cooperation & Marketing), was held in Mumbai on 1 June 2024.

The event featured the launch of his Hindi poetry collection ‘Isliye Bachi Hui Hai Prithvi Ab Tak’ along with the publication of the Marathi poetry collection ‘Jag Navach Chotasa Gaav’. Through these two books, readers were introduced to Anup Kumar’s poetry in both Hindi and Marathi, reflecting his social awareness, personal experiences and engagement with contemporary life.

The literary programme was held from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Opera House Hall, Charni Road (East), Girgaon, Mumbai.

Poetry as a Dialogue with Society

A central idea behind these poetry collections is that poetry is never created in isolation. Whether the literary form is poetry, fiction, a novel, drama or an essay, writing emerges from a specific social and cultural environment.

Anup Kumar’s poems engage closely with the society around him. Many of the Hindi poems are rooted in the Marathi cultural landscape and the lives of people in Maharashtra, giving the work a distinctive connection with local experiences while expressing them through another language.

This combination of Hindi poetry, Marathi cultural experience and social observation gives the collections a bilingual and cross-cultural literary character.

Marathi Translation by Dr. Shivdatt Walawalkar

The Hindi poems included in the collection were translated into Marathi by Dr. Shivdatt Walawalkar.

Dr. Walawalkar is associated with the SNDT Women’s University, Pune campus, where he works as a professor of Hindi. The supplied material also notes that he completed a PhD and postdoctoral study in Hindi literature from Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi.

Translating the emotional and literary essence of the Hindi poems into natural Marathi was described as a challenging task, which Dr. Walawalkar completed within a limited period.

Editorial Support and Literary Guidance

The poetry collection also benefited from the editorial support of Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Marathi poet Shrikant Deshmukh.

Senior Marathi poet Sumati Lande, associated with Shabdalaya Prakashan, provided valuable literary guidance. Her contribution helped in refining the poems and preparing them for readers.

The collaboration between the poet, translator, editor and literary mentor adds another important dimension to these Hindi-Marathi poetry collections, making them relevant for readers interested in contemporary poetry, translation and socially engaged literature.
