म्हातारा पाऊस आणि थडगं’ Mhatara Paus ani Thadga

अभिनेता, दिग्दर्शक आणि नाटककार कृष्णा यमुना विलास वाळके लिखित ‘म्हातारा पाऊस आणि थडगं’ या दोन नाटकांच्या पुस्तकाचा प्रकाशन सोहळा रविवार, ३ मे २०२६ रोजी पुण्यातील ‘द बॉक्स’, एसएनडीटी मेट्रो स्टेशनजवळ उत्साहात पार पडला. शब्दालय प्रकाशन, श्रीरामपूर यांनी प्रकाशित केलेल्या या पुस्तकाच्या प्रकाशनाला साहित्य, रंगभूमी आणि नाट्यप्रेमींची उत्स्फूर्त उपस्थिती लाभली. विशेष म्हणजे कृष्णा वाळके यांच्या आई-वडिलांच्या हस्ते पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन झाल्याने सोहळ्याला भावनिक आणि कौटुंबिक स्पर्श मिळाला.

या कार्यक्रमाला अखिल भारतीय मराठी नाट्य परिषदेचे कोषाध्यक्ष सतीश लोटके, अभिनेते नानाभाऊ मोरे, लेखक-दिग्दर्शक-अभिनेते निरंजन पेडणेकर यांच्यासह नाट्य क्षेत्रातील मान्यवर, लेखकाचे कुटुंबीय, मित्र आणि रसिक उपस्थित होते. निमंत्रणामध्ये प्रसिद्ध अभिनेते डॉ. मिलिंद शिंदे आणि प्रकाशक सुमित लोंढे यांचाही विशेष उल्लेख करण्यात आला होता. उपस्थित मान्यवरांनी पुस्तकाविषयी आपले अनुभव मांडत कृष्णा वाळके यांच्या लेखनप्रवासाचे कौतुक केले आणि भविष्यातही त्यांच्याकडून दर्जेदार नाट्यलेखनाची अपेक्षा व्यक्त केली.

पुस्तकाचा संक्षिप्त परिचय

‘म्हातारा पाऊस आणि थडगं’ हे कृष्णा वाळके यांच्या दोन स्वतंत्र, रंगभूमीवर सादर झालेल्या नाटकांचे पुस्तक आहे. ‘म्हातारा पाऊस’ या नाटकाची सुरुवात २०१९ मध्ये राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालयाच्या नाट्यलेखन कार्यशाळेत एकांकिका म्हणून झाली. पुढे त्याचे दीर्घांक आणि दोन अंकी नाटकात रूपांतर झाले. शेतकरी जीवनातील परिस्थिती, संघर्ष आणि भावनिक वास्तव हे या नाटकाचे केंद्र आहे.

‘थडगं’, २०२४ मध्ये लिहिलेले नाटक, शेतकरी वडील आणि कलाकार मुलगा यांच्या नात्यातील भावनिक संघर्ष आणि नातेसंबंधांच्या गुंतागुंतीवर भाष्य करते. महाराष्ट्रातील विविध ठिकाणी या दोन्ही नाटकांचे प्रयोग झाले असून ग्रामीण जीवन, कुटुंब, नाती, संघर्ष आणि मानवी भावना यांचे प्रभावी चित्रण ही पुस्तकाची खासियत आहे.

Marathi actor, director and playwright Krushna Yamuna Vilas Walke celebrated the publication of his theatre book “Mhatara Paus ani Thadga”, a collection of two Marathi plays, at a special literary and theatrical event held on Sunday, 3 May 2026, at The Box near SNDT Metro Station in Pune. Published by Shabdalaya Prakashan, Shrirampur, the book launch brought together theatre personalities, readers, family members and Marathi theatre enthusiasts.

A particularly memorable aspect of the event was the release of the book in the presence of Walke’s parents, giving the occasion a personal and emotional dimension. Among the theatre personalities present were Satish Lotke, Treasurer of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad; actor Nanabhau More; and writer, director and actor Niranjan Pednekar. The launch invitation also prominently featured noted actor Dr. Milind Shinde and publisher Sumit Londhe. Guests shared their thoughts on the book, appreciated Walke’s journey from performance to published theatre writing, and expressed their expectations for more meaningful Marathi plays from the writer.

The book launch was accompanied by “Natyamahotsav Tumcha-Aamcha,” a theatre festival in which five plays were staged during the day. The performances received an enthusiastic response from audiences, making the occasion more than a conventional book release. By combining a Marathi book launch with live theatre performances, the event became a vibrant celebration of Marathi literature, contemporary Marathi theatre, playwriting and performing arts in Pune.

“Mhatara Paus ani Thadga” brings together two stage-performed Marathi plays by playwright Krushna Walke.

“Mhatara Paus” originated as a one-act play during a National School of Drama playwriting workshop in 2019 and later developed into longer and two-act versions. Rooted in rural Maharashtra, the play portrays the hardships, emotions and realities surrounding a farmer’s life.

Written in 2024, “Thadga” explores the emotionally complex relationship between a farmer father and his artist son, touching upon family bonds, conflicting aspirations and human emotions. Both plays have been performed at various locations in Maharashtra and reflect Walke’s strong connection with rural life, social realities, family relationships and Marathi theatre.
